Who is Brad Heath?

Brad Heath grew up on a small-town family farm, where his early life revolved around cattle, horses, turkeys, and more. This firsthand experience with livestock would shape his future endeavors.

In 1994, Brad and his family opened a local retail store offering horse feed, tack, cattle supplies, and hay equipment. This venture exposed Brad to the everyday realities of the equestrian lifestyle.

Brad, encountering many difficult-to-load horses, and dealing with livestock, led him to becoming the founder and owner of Double D Trailers in 1997. He entered in the horse trailer manufacturing business. Yet, seeing customer after customer struggle with loading and unloading their horses, he became convinced there had to be a better way to design horse trailers.

After years of dedicated brainstorming and research, Brad’s efforts to finding a safe solution to loading problems culminated in a significant achievement in 2015: Double D Trailers was awarded U.S. Patent #9132762 for the SafeTack® Reverse Slant Load horse trailer design.

The SafeTack® design has been praised as a game changer in the industry. It creates a safer, more inviting and less stressful environment for horses, significantly enhancing the loading and unloading experience for handlers.

Today, Brad Heath specializes in trailer design, safety, and innovation. He dedicates his time to working directly with clients and educating horse owners in horse trailer selection, maintenance, and safe trailering practices. His book, The Honest-to-Goodness Truth About Horse Trailers, officially releases on February 28, 2025.
